Disposable-clothes strategy

Tried a new approach to packing for this trip: Brought five old shirts with stains or yellowed collars that can't be washed out, as well as five pairs of underwear with holes or no more elasticity. Gave them all two or three memorable wears until I started smelling myself, then went to Uniqlo and bought two cotton tees, two broadcloth button-downs, a flannel and five pairs of silky Airism boxer briefs. Boom. I don't pack pants.

The old clothes will go in the trash; nobody needs them (Google "clothing deficit myth.") By the way, I've started traveling with just a 28-liter Patagonia bag, and life has gotten better. Good in tight spots, the airlines can't say squat, and no waiting in baggage claim.

28-liter Patagonia Refugio pack. Recommended: a dark pair of Banana Republic Rapid
Movement chinos (not pictured). They're stain-resistant, don't wrinkle and last forever.
